To the Editor:
I am writing to you today on behalf of Heidi Smith. She is without a doubt qualified to be Canton’s Town Clerk. It was my pleasure to mentor Heidi prior to my retirement after serving the Town of Canton for 31 years. During Heidi’s three year employment as Deputy Clerk she was an outstanding asset to the Town Clerk’s Office. Heidi contributed to running the office efficiently, and with ease.
Although Heidi did not receive the appointment from the Town Board to complete my term of one year, she has continued to educate herself on the duties of Town Clerk. Heidi has broadened her knowledge in areas such as record management and accounting, all while working full time for a private contractor. I can tell you first hand that Heidi is enthusiastic about returning to the work that she highly enjoyed.
I believe Heidi will be welcomed back to the Municipal Building with open arms by the many within that supported her bid for Canton Town Clerk. It is without a doubt that Heidi is ready to serve the citizens of Canton. I whole heartily encourage you to vote Heidi Smith as your next Canton Town Clerk on Nov. 2.
