Opinion: Congresswoman doesn't care about poultry farmers, says Norwood resident

I find it interesting to see how our Congresswoman is twisting the facts to benefit the dairy farmers or St. Lawrence County. Must be she does not care about the poultry farmers.

After reading the link she provided, the only thing I could find was the following: “Providing more non-dairy substitution options such as soy-based yogurts and cheeses – and requiring lactose-free milk to be offered.”

Included in one of the flashcards was this statement: “Dairy and Eggs. Provide more options, such as different sizes of yogurt containers or substituting soy yogurt for milk or tofu for eggs.”

So, while I agree that USDA is most likely going to see a reduction of milk demand, because people will have the option to opt for other food choices.

Finally, the whole proposal is” “These science-based revisions incorporate recommendations from the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) and the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2020-2025.”

To so, I would have to say that President Biden is not personally reducing milk to WIC Clients, but in fact it appears that he is improving WIC by updating the program to provide better nutritional choices for WIC participants.
