I applaud all of the school staff and volunteers who are so committed to delivering meals to their students. I am so impressed by their commitment.
It seems that nothing will stop them. To me, their actions signal to us all how deep the needs and problems of these students are, and how hard the school staff and volunteers have already been working.
I applaud them. More than half of children in St. Lawrence County are eligible for free meals from school, and half of those are living below the official poverty line.
I hope we can take a wake-up call from their response and use it to find more ways to help families out of poverty.
