In response to “Opinion: Stefanik Will Forever be Known as Supporter of the Big Lie”: The writer goes to great lengths to allege Elise Stefanik of complicity encouraging those who recently stormed the nation’s capital, as well as prevalent lying in her term as Congresswoman.

His litany of accusations, just short of blaming her for being responsible for making our local cows produce curdled milk, doesn’t disturb me as much as his lack of fair play to be as equally upset with the crimes and corruption of the Democrats. His complaint is a symptom of a larger problem facing this nation, namely, we now live in a two-tier justice system, where the law is applied to one side but not equally to the other.

Congresswoman Maxine Waters was never censored for encouraging her constituents to harass public officials she stated publicly: "If you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd and you push back on them, and you tell them they're not welcome anymore, anywhere,"

Those who brought forth a false dossier accusing the president of improper conduct resulting in almost two years of a costly and unnecessary investigation were never arrested. Nor when Hillary Clinton was found with an illegal server at her home with government files, whose lawyers destroyed the evidence. Or when FBI Director James Comey illegally exonerated her outside his authority. Nor outrage over Biden’s sons connections with Ukraine and China as a result of his influence, with neither one possessing experience in business. They are indeed fortunate sons, and not us.

This nation is built upon the cornerstone that the law is blind, that justice is for all, regardless of social status or political affiliation. If the strife and divide in this nation is to be resolved, then justice must be administered impartially to both guilty parties when they break the law.

When elected public servants, judges, and leaders use their office and judicial mechanisms of government against an opposing party or individual, ignoring their own who commit similar offenses, they create a lack of confidence and insecurity among citizens. It engenders a Kafkaesque dread that anyone can be arbitrary prosecuted because they hold contrary opinions to those in power.

Many are demanding political revenge, not justice. They want a pound of flesh, to take no prisoners. Both sides need to clean their own house, to serve the best interests of the American people instead of expending their time, energy and our tax dollars attacking each other.
