To the Editor:
The Village of Norwood is mourning the loss of an outstanding citizen with the passing of Jack Morgan, who died December 8. Jack served as village trustee, VP of Norwood Lake Association, President of Norwood Museum Board, webmaster of our web page, and was involved in many other activities as well as being a dedicated family member.
Jack had great technical skills that he used to assist his many friends and our village. If you tried to compensate him, he made it known he would not accept.
He would often spend time improving the computer skills of many.
He was mainly responsible for improving the “Welcome to Norwood” signs by planting flowers and caring for their appearance.
He spent countless hours at the recycling center serving the public and implemented many improvements.
He spent many hours working on the village web page and answering inquiries of interested parties.
We could list many other things that Jack did for those fortunate to know him as it seems he was always looking to make life easier for those around him.
Family was most important to Jack and he suffered greatly when his grandson died in a tragic fire recently. He respected our young people and asked that we be non-judgmental when they made mistakes. As a village board member his contributions will benefit our citizens well into the future. Our village motto is “Norwood is a nice place to live.” We believe Jack played a major role, with his many contributions, that allow us to express that motto. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
