To the Editor:

I write this letter to congratulate the village and surrounding communities of Potsdam on a remarkable member of their community.

Dr. James P. Lyons (MD OBGYN) is a remarkable doctor who has served the families of the Potsdam area, and has touched the lives of many.

As one of the few local doctors responsible for delivering the babies in the community, he has been a part of many families’ happy experience as they welcome their newborn children. He has compassionately delivered care, often times working strenuous irregular hours, and has been available to the people of Potsdam whenever they have needed him.

He has even been there for families who have experienced tragedy, and in those times he is a comforter and a healer. Related to this, he has been able to wisely and capably prevent tragedy in sensitive times for the many families who have suffered through complicated pregnancies.

This is how my family and I have come to know and respect James Lyons. He has seen my family through two such sensitive pregnancies, the latter of which there was no guarantee of a happy outcome. In large part, we have Dr. Lyons to thank for the successful birth of our newest and youngest child.

From the bottom of my heart, I thank Dr. Lyons and I invite the Potsdam community to join me in applauding the important service and care that he provides.
