Hockey game nets $1,500 for Potsdam Educational Opportunities Fund

I would like to thank all those that made the 5th Annual PEOF charity hockey game a great success.

This year, thanks to the generosity of Clarkson University, we were able to feature a mini tournament between Potsdam Central School teachers and staff, Clarkson University faculty and staff, SUNY Potsdam faculty and staff, and CPH doctors and staff. CPH came away with the championship after shoot-out goal by Danner Dorothy to beat Potsdam Central. It was a wonderful community event that raised over $1,500 for the Potsdam Educational Opportunities Fund (PEOF).

I would especially like to thank Clarkson University for their support of the event by donating the ice time and raffle items. A big thank you to the PCS Art Department, the AAK 7th grade teachers, the Lawrence Ave kindergarten teachers, Sergi’s of Potsdam, and Marigold Kitchen and Bakery for their generous raffle donations. John White of Evans and White who generously provided the popcorn machine and popcorn, and the members of the AAK Builders Club, who worked hard at selling the popcorn and water.

Our announcer Todd Truax once again did an amazing job broadcasting the games and the event! Thanks also goes out to the players and coaches from all four teams who provided evenly matched and entertaining games. Our volunteer refs, Adam DiMarco, Michael Bunstone and Micheal Boysuk did a great job keeping things in control on the ice. Lastly, a big thank you my fellow PEOF committee members and their family members, who helped organize and sell the chuck-a-puck, raffle, and admissions tickets.

Thanks again to all that helped and came out to support PEOF! We hope to see you all next year!

Proceeds of the game benefitted the Potsdam Educational Opportunities Fund (PEOF), a grass roots organization that was initiated in 2012 to provide financial support for K-12 educational activities in the Potsdam Central School District. PEOF has funded grants totaling over $70,000 since their inception in 2012. For more information on PEOF please see our webpage http://www.potsdam.k12.ny.us/educational-opportunities-fund.
