The traditional lighting of the star high on the steeple of the Potsdam Presbyterian Church has been graciously facilitated by the fire department ladder truck crew.
When the star was lowered in October to replace old lights with new LED ones, the rope was blown around and caught on the sandstone half way up the steeple.
The crew drove to the church, parked on Elm Street, and using the extension ladder and a long pole was able to free the rope.
The church congregation and many annual onlookers respectfully thank the crew and the department for this community service.
The star will be lit from about 4-10 p.m. daily starting December 2.
