To the Editor:

Congratulations Mary Lou Rupp. It didn’t take long for newly appointee St. Lawrence County Clerk Gavin Regan to fire acting St. Lawrence County Clerk, Mary Lou Rupp.

Mrs. Rupp has announced that she is running this November for the position on the Republican ticket. Mr. Regan said this was for budgetary reasons but anyone can see this was strictly a political move and that’s too bad.

Along with Mary Lou Rupp losing her job, the taxpayers of St. Lawrence County have also lost a great employee but maybe not for long. Mr. Regan’s actions created a public outcry of foul play. The St. Lawrence County Conservative Party wasted no time in choosing the right candidate for the job. Tuesday night the conservative party committee voted to endorse Mary Lou for St. Lawrence County Clerk in the November election. This is great news and I am sure the wave of support she has seen since Mr. Regan’s actions will continue to grow. Congratulations Mary Lou. The campaign is on.
