The Ladies Auxiliary held the 2nd annual Karaoke Contest on Sept. 17 to raise monies for the scholarship fund. The monies go to the Colton-Pierrepont Central School graduate that is attending college seeking a career in Nursing.

This year’s contest brought out 16 registered singers to share their talents. The talent shown was truly amazing! The contest was divided into two groups-under 18 and adult.

Four young participants shared their singing talents with Morgan Sabre winning first place and Nick Rycroft taking second place.

Twelve adults sang and the competition was fierce. Amazing voices filled the air. The judges worked very hard to determine the top three seats.

Charlene Barton took the third place prize after having a sing off with second place winner Michele Vaisey, Mother of Nick Rycroft. First place was delivered to Rebecca Brachau from Ogdensburg Amvets, after she received a perfect score for her final song choice.

Kraven Karaoke, owned and operated by Kevin and Mona Caskinette, donated their time and equipment to help make this event such a phenomenal success.

The singers were judged by an Amvet Son Bob Agel, AmVet Lady Linda Stark and community member Bill Melchiore. It was obvious from the first song that the judges were not in for an easy task.

Scholarship 2011 winners were Brooke Bake and Alex Sochia. Both students have begun their college path and will receive $300 at the beginning of their second semester.
