Brown backs Grandaw as next county coroner

To the Editor:

I would like to start by thanking the people of St. Lawrence County for supporting me as coroner for the past 27 years. Due to the increase in business at the ambulance service I work at as a paramedic, I no longer feel I can give the same level of commitment and dedication I have been able to give in the past. It has been both an honor and a privilege to serve St. Lawrence County.

We are fortunate to have an outstanding candidate running for the position of coroner who deserves your support, Brett Grandaw, who is educated as both a paramedic and a funeral director, would serve as coroner and be as dedicated as I had been during my service.

I find that he is extremely objective and reacts to any given situation with kindness and decisiveness. He works well with the public and I believe he will work well with hospitals and police agencies, which is necessary to accomplish the job as county coroner.

Brett’s education as a paramedic gives him the ability to make determinations about an individual’s medical history so he can make a ruling on cause and manner of death, which is the coroner’s primary responsibility.

His education as a funeral director gives him the ability to show compassion and leadership during a time of crisis.

Brett’s willingness to participate in the tragic events of 9/11 are a true indication of his dedication to human life and the different sights he had to view while doing his job shows he has the ability to be objective in the most devastating circumstances.

I urge all the voters to do as I will and support Brett Grandaw for St. Lawrence County Coroner.

Philip Brown
