She was honored for her demonstrated commitment to the goals and purposes of Rotary and "in appreciation of their tangible assistance given for the furtherance of better understanding and friendly relations among peoples of the world."

At the same event, Tessier was also installed as the 2020-2021 Potsdam Rotary president-elect.

A Potsdam native, Tessier is the senior sales executive in the Personal Lines Division at Northern Insuring Agency in Potsdam and Massena. She has been with the agency for 19 years and is responsible for writing and managing accounts for auto insurance, homeowners, camps, umbrella and recreational vehicles, among others.

She holds a property & casualty license and a broker of record license in property and casualty insurance. She also has her Customer Insurance Service Representative Designation.

Tessier has been involved in many Rotary activities, like Dodge Pond workdays, Duck Pluck, putting together food baskets for the Potsdam Holiday Fund and changeover dinners. She currently serves on the Potsdam Rotary board of directors, and as chairperson of the Rotary Spring Gala, chairperson for the Rotary Haunted Hallway, and a member of the Dodge Pond Committee.

She received her bachelor of arts degree in art studio and her master of science in education from SUNY Potsdam.

Tessier has a fiancé, Jason Coller; step-daughter, McKayla Coller; and daughter, Madison Coller.

One-thousand dollars has been donated in Tessier's name to the Rotary Foundation, a not-for-profit corporation that supports the efforts of Rotary International to achieve world understanding and peace through international humanitarian, educational, and cultural exchange programs.

The contribution honoring her will be used for projects like saving the lives of children through immunization, bringing water to remote global villages, or the establishment of hospitals in under-developed countries.

The Potsdam Rotary Club meets each Wednesday at noon -- these days online.
