CANTON -- A group of outstanding students has been recognized by SUNY Canton Dean of Students and Vice President for Student Affairs Courtney B. Bish.
The Student Specialty Awards are presented annually to those who have defied the odds, overcome challenges, persevered through hardships, showed tremendous leadership, engaged in philanthropic and humanitarian efforts, and inspired their peers.
All of the students recognized can be found on the 2021 Student Specialty Awards website.
Local students to be recognized during the virtual ceremony earning the Phoenix Award:
Larecus C. Dobbs, Erin Grandaw, both of Canton; Julianne M. Brown, Colton; Shaylee Brenno, Heuvelton; Marissa Lynne Wood, Madrid; Caprice M. LaDue, Massena; Kristin Ladoceour, Waddington; and Michaelyn J. Hunter, Winthrop.
Students awarded the Spirit of Success Award include: Jonah R. Black, Canton, and Jordan R. Miller, Ogdensburg, who also earned the Pillars of Character Award.
Gaynelle M. Gilbride, Ogdensburg, earned the Leaders of Tomorrow Award
