CANTON -- The Princeton Review has once again recognized St. Lawrence University as one of the nation's best institutions for undergraduate students, applauding its outstanding alumni network and internships in the recent publication, "Best Value Colleges for 2022."

The University earned a No. 4 spot on the Top 20 Best Private School Alumni Networks and ranked seventh on Princeton Review's Top 20 Best Private Schools for Internships list.

"I'm grateful for The Princeton Review's continued recognition of the strength of St. Lawrence's alumni network and our exceptional career preparation opportunities," said President Kathryn Morris. "Thanks to the mentorship offered by Laurentians around the globe and the support provided by the Center for Career Excellence, our students are able to investigate their many interests during internships that strengthen their skills and provide real-world experience, giving them a competitive edge for a variety of careers."

According to the popular college guide, the Best Alumni Network ranking is based on students' ratings of alumni activity and visibility on campus. In 2020, St. Lawrence alumna Hilary Ayn Valentine '89 made a generous $3 million gift to launch the Center for Career Excellence, making career programming a cornerstone of the student experience. For several years, St. Lawrence has engaged eager alumni and parents with current students through signature career programs like SLU Connect, LINC Mentor Program, the Alumni Insight Series, Laurentians in Residence, and Career Boot Camp.

The Best Schools for Internships list is based on students' ratings of accessibility of internship placement at their school. With over 94 percent of recent St. Lawrence graduates either employed or attending graduate school less than one year after graduation, 73 percent took part in at least one dynamic internship experience. The University's dedicated alumni network is routinely among the top two factors in helping new graduates find full-time employment.

Out of the more than 650 colleges and universities surveyed by The Princeton Review, the 209 schools chosen have three exceptional features: excellent academics, affordable cost, and robust career preparation.

"The schools we chose as our Best Value Colleges for 2022 are a select group: they comprise only about 7% of the nation's four-year undergraduate institutions," said Rob Franek, editor-in-chief of The Princeton Review. "We commend their administrators, faculties, staff, and alumni for all they are doing to educate their students and guide them to success in their careers. These colleges are also exceptional for the generous amount of financial aid they award to students with need and or for their comparatively low cost of attendance."

In September 2021, the popular college guide named St. Lawrence to its list of Nation's Best Colleges, commending the University for its outstanding academic and co-curricular offerings, compassionate professors and staff, dedicated alumni, and its tight-knit community. The University has been included in several of The Princeton Review's other popular publications including their list of Colleges That Create Futures, Best Northeastern, and the Guide to Green Colleges.
