Keighan, a 2021 OFA graduate, attends Rochester Institute of Technology where he studies biomechanical engineering and aspires to work in the medical field to improve the lives of wounded military servicemen and women.
He is the son of Shawna and Aaron Charlton, Ogdensburg, and Daniel Polniak Jr., Ogdensburg.
“I want to design new prosthetics to help them get back to their daily life,” Keighan said of his career goal. “I will be helping people live their lives to the fullest.”
Keighan was a three-sport athlete throughout his time at OFA, competing in varsity soccer, hockey, and lacrosse and serving as a team captain during his senior year. Off the field of play, Keighan was a class officer and a National Honor Society member.
The OFA Alumni Scholarship was established at the Northern New York Community Foundation in 2012 by members of OFA’s Class of 1962. It is a $1,500 award presented annually to a graduating OFA student.
“Because of the generosity of OFA alumni and friends, the impact of this scholarship continues to grow,” said Rande Richardson, Community Foundation executive director. “We are honored to be the permanent home of this scholarship that provides meaningful support to OFA graduates today and will forever.”
