Several St. Lawrence Lewis-BOCES-area administrators recently participated in a five-day “Instructional Rounds Institute” at Harvard University in Boston.
They included Potsdam High School Principal Joann Chambers, Heuvelton Central 7-12 Principal Jesse Coburn, St. Lawrence University Director of Educational Leadership Bill Collins, Brasher Falls High School Principal Tracy Davison, BOCES Regional Teacher Leader Jill Farrand, Lisbon 7-12 Principal Pat Farrand, SLL BOCES administrator Jennifer French, Ogdensburg City School District Director of Curriculum, Assessment and Instruction Kevin Kendall, Parishville-Hopkinton Elementary Principal Brooke Reid, and grant coordinator Andrew Rudd.
Over 100 educators from around the United States, Canada, and Australia participated.
The New York State Department of Education paid for the group to go.
“Instructional Rounds” is a professional practice for improving teaching and learning. Like the medical rounds model, educators work together to observe teaching and learning.
