Selma Thagard appointed assistant professor of chemical and biomolecular engineering at Clarkson

POTSDAM – Selma Mededovic Thagard has been appointed assistant professor of chemical and biomolecular engineering at Clarkson University. She began teaching this fall.

Thagard received her bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering from the University of Zagreb in Croatia and her Ph.D. in chemical engineering from Florida State University. Her Ph.D. research earned the distinction as the best Ph.D. research work in the Department of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering at Florida State.

Before coming to Clarkson, Thagard held post-doctoral appointments at Toyohashi University in Japan and at Colorado State University.

Her research interests include electrical discharges in liquid and gas phases for plasma-assisted material synthesis, environmental remediation and biomedical applications with a focus on examining plasma chemistry.

Thagard has coauthored 12 articles in refereed journals, has one more article under review and has one patent. She has presented her work at numerous international meetings.
