Seaway Career & Technical Education Center announces 'Students of the Month'

Posted

The staff and administration at Seaway Career & Technical Education Center in Norwood are please to announce the selection of Jessyca Dimick as the Potsdam Rotary Club/Seaway Career & Technical Education Center Student of the Month for September 2010.

Jessyca, who is enrolled in the Early Childhood Education Program, is also a student at St. Lawrence Central. She is the daughter of Nancy Dimick.

Jessyca has been a student leader for Early Childhood Education for the past 2 years. She is a member of the National Technical Honor Society at Seaway Tech, which she holds the title of President of this organization for her senior year. She was awarded Student of the Month from her home school during her junior year for her outstanding academic achievement.

She is currently a member of the Liberty Partnership Program at St. Lawrence Central.

She is a member of the cheerleading squad at St. Lawrence Central, holding the captain’s position her junior year. She participates in numerous volunteer experiences, from the Adopt-A-Highway Program, to the first annual Cooter 5K walk/run along with preparing items for the food pantry.

She participates in service learning experiences. She is the timer/scorer for the swim team at St. Lawrence Central School. She volunteers her time at the elementary school in various grades. She has completed an internship position well before she was expected to complete this.

This year, we are starting an Early Childhood Education Club, which will focus primarily on volunteer work and community service, where she will hold the President’s position for this club.

In conclusion, having the opportunity to work with Jessyca has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my teaching career. What an AMAZING addition she will be to the education field.
