Parishville-Hopkinton student named Potsdam Rotary Student of Month

NORWOOD – Hunter LaPage, a student at Parishville-Hopkinton Central School, has been selected as The Seaway Career & Technical Education Center Potsdam Rotary Club Student of the Month for February.

He is a student in the Automotive Technology Program and the son of George LaPage and Candice Bray.

As a student in the Automotive Technology program, Hunter and his classmates have been learning the essential skills needed to begin a career in the industry. Students gain real world and hand on experience working in an industry standard lab setting while learning the fundamentals of vehicle repairs, introduction to engines, brake fundamentals, suspension and steering, drive trains and axles, NYS inspection, automotive electrical, engine performance, fuel and emissions, cost estimation and customer service skills. Students can earn up to six different certifications. Dual enrollment opportunities are offered as well.

The Automotive Technology instructor, Dave Denny, has said the following about Hunter: “Hunter is a very enthusiastic, responsible and hard working young man. He has utilized and excelled with our Snap-on scanners and alignment technology to its fullest potential. His automotive skills are without a doubt, stellar”.

Seaway Tech Program Students of the Month are David Webster, Building Trades, and Olivia Reiter, Cosmetology, both from Norwood-Norfolk; Kalei McDonald, Health Careers, Brayden Desgrosiellier, HVAC/R, and Alistar Pruett, Software Development & Business Design, all from Massena Central.
