MASSENA -- Massena High School Music and Drama took first place at the Massena Winter Carnival parade this year, with Jim Allott taking first place in the 5k walk/run.
The parade was held Friday, Feb. 1. Jefferson Elementary School took second place, followed by Massena Nursery School in third place, according to the Greater Massena Chamber of Commerce.
The 5k, which was held Saturday, Feb. 2 at the Massena Country Club, had Jim Allott in first place (20:38), James Francia in second place (21:26) and Wayne Latham in third place (23:23).
In addition, “the winning ticket in the 50-50 Raffle was drawn during the Winter Carnival Closing Ceremonies held on Sunday, February 3rd at the NYPA Frank S. McCullough, Jr. Hawkins Point Visitors Center. The 50-50 winner was Debbie Long who won $450,” said Michael Gleason, executive director of the chamber.
