OGDENSBURG -- Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center has announced that five of its registered nurses recently completed the Emergency Nurses Association’s (ENA) Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC).
The nurses who achieved this status are Erica Fishel, Jolene LaSiege, Shayna Dychtiar, Steve Karlberg, and Wendy Dow.
The TNCC status, which is valid for four years, was achieved by attending a vigorous two-day course that included didactics and lots of hands-on skill performance in the care of the trauma patient.
According to the ENA, after completing the course, nurses can systematically asses the trauma patient, to intervene and assist with interventions, and to provide evidence-based trauma nursing care within the context of a trauma team.
