POTSDAM - The United State Marine Corps (USMC) and the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced that the Clarkson University Volleyball program is among the group of teams that have earned the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award for the 2020-21 season.
The award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale or 4.10 on a 5.0 scale.
Though there was no season for the Golden Knights in the fall of 2020, Clarkson's student-athletes still excelled in the classroom despite difficult learning situations. Virtually the entire roster that was eligible earned Liberty League All-Academic honors in 2020, including senior Gillian Kurtic, juniors Haley Aud, Celestial Barrera-Lopez, Kristen Liu, and Megan McEwen, and sophomores Emma Baxter, Isabelle Crow, and Kristin Werdine.
Overall, the Clarkson University Volleyball team possessed a 3.541 cumulative grade-point average and was above 3.5 in each of the two semesters.
