A bimonthly peer-reviewed journal, the Journal of Social Psychology publishes high-quality research on basic and applied social psychology, including behavior, attitudes, identity, interpersonal relationships, and group processes and intergroup relations.

In her new editorial role, Legault plans to increase the scientific rigor of papers published by the journal. In addition, she seeks to make publication expectations clear and consistent and to increase honesty and transparency in reporting, reviewing, and editing.

Legault also aims to promote awareness of diversity issues in participant sampling and to help widen the scope of social psychology to historically underrepresented populations.

Legault is a social psychologist who studies the motivational foundations of prosocial behavior – particularly as applied to inclusive and nondiscriminatory social behavior and sustainable environmental behavior.

At Clarkson, she teaches classes in motivation & emotion, research methods, and statistics, and is the creator and director of the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center Professional Experience for undergraduates.

The Journal of Social Psychology reaches 220,000 readers per year and promotes open access and open data. It has a 13 percent acceptance rate for submitted papers.
