POTSDAM – Two groups associated with Clarkson University's Air Force ROTC detachment were recently honored.

The Air Force ROTC Drill Team, the Golden Knights, took first place in two categories at a meet at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

They placed first in squad trick and squad inspection. Approximately 11 college ROTC units from around the east coast and Ohio competed.

Civilian students, as well as cadets, make up the drill team.

The Arnold Air Society Squadron, the cadet service organization, and Silver Wings Chapter, its civilian counterpart, received top joint-service hours for the month of February in Area I, which consists of 11 schools, with a total of 212 community service hours.

They were awarded $475, which they will put toward attending AMERICON, the Arnold Air Society national conclave in New York City in April. The squadron will also send 10 cadets to the conference to make a bid for national staff, which is the group responsible for administrative management of the society.
