Gov. Andrew Cuomo has included a proposal in the state budget that would require students to wear seat belts on school buses. He says it would enhance safety. Some local superintendent are not completely sold on the idea, citing that lap seat belts, which are currently on school buses, can cause injury to smaller children. This past week’s survey results said that 63 percent of respondents do not support mandating seat belt usage by students on school buses.
