Friday, July 16, 2021 - 4:57 pm

Hunting for long-lost treasure were nearly twenty hikers gallivanting around Sugar Island, Potsdam, July 15, including Lisa Hanns and Cyrus Abar. Families with children of all ages were able to hear legends of the Pirates of the Racquette River while hiking along the three-mile Red Sandstone Trail between Potsdam and Hannawa Falls. The hike was a joint event organized by Blair Madore, of the Adirondack Mountain Club, and William Eckert, of Potsdam Public Library, with support from special guest pirate Margaret Madore.
