A.A. Kingston Middle School students and staff celebrated Patriot Day in grand style. Over 400 participants began their day by forming an American flag and then singing “The Star Spangled Banner,” led by 8th grader Claire Maciel. Every student wore red, white, or blue to create the patriotic display. Principal Cruikshank organized the event, which began as a curricular idea from 5th grade teacher, Doug Saber. Throughout the rest of the day, students learned about the tragic events of 9/11 and how that day has impacted their lives. Students also celebrated their national pride as they developed a deeper understanding of that fateful day which took place before any of them were enrolled in school.
