Mechanical & Aeronautical Engineering Professor Pier Marzocca and student research team members Daniel Valyou and Jordan Janas display the unmanned aerial vehicle Clarkson RAVEN (Research Aerial Vehicle for Experimental Needs). A Clarkson research team is readying it to acquire wind turbulence data. Three Clarkson University faculty, along with colleagues from six institutions and companies in the U.S. and Europe, have been awarded $700,000 by the U.S. Department of Energy to study Lake Erie wind resources and to perform a detailed evaluation of remote sensing technologies for wind resource estimation.
