A historic marker was erected Friday, Aug. 21 at the tragic site of Barnum and Bailey’s Circus train wreck in 1889 at the Rt. 56 railroad crossing between Potsdam and Norwood, killing many of the animals aboard. The William C. Pomeroy Foundation donated the marker.
