Photographer Dean Shelato recently visited the Red Barn Preserve, 518 River Road East in Morristown, this past weekend and spotted some blue heron babies. Blue herons occupy a rookery at the preserve and tend to their nests from late March to mid July. “There are blue heron babies in most of the 40 nests on the property,” Shelato said. “If you plan to visit the Red Barn Preserve- bring binoculars. The best viewing is from the observation deck on the yellow trail.”
