Turtle rescue in Winthrop

"Last evening, on the way home from Potsdam, I saw this big snapping turtle on the Dullea Road in Winthrop, just off Route 420," said photographer Don Straight of Brasher Falls. Straight says he stopped to see what he could do, and that someone else did at the same time. "James Strawser was much more adept handling the situation than I would have been, and he even posed for a picture before placing the turtle in the swampy area nearby," Straight said.  "The turtle wasn't very pleased about being airlifted, but it was definitely for its own good!" Strawser is from the Brasher-Winthrop area.
