It's the time of year when we often see snapping turtles 'dug in' at the side of the road. 'I've often stopped to take pictures of the animals, since they impress me, and they frighten me if I get too close,' said photographer Don Straight of Brasher Falls. 'However, this morning was a bit more special, and I was able to watch this female turtle lay three eggs in quick succession,' he said 'The lighting was just right, and her positioning allowed me to witness the process, which was pretty impressive. The hole into which her eggs rolled was impressively deep, and she used her rear foot to protect them in between drops. I learned a lot this morning.'
