Tuesday, May 10, 2011 - 6:03 am

Guest speakers who recently lived in Shanghai, China, for five years gave a presentation to students at Norwood-Norfolk Elementary School recently. Tim Bryant, his son Ray, and daughter Sophie gave a slideshow and displayed items from China. They now live in Port Henry, N.Y., but Mr. Bryant still has a business in Shanghai and travels there often. Tim Bryant is a brother of Ann Cotey, a teacher at Norwood-Norfolk School. They were invited by Superintendent Elizabeth Kirnie who set up a pen pal exchange between the Shanghai Experimental School and Norwood-Norfolk third graders in Cheryl Shumway’s class. The Bryants showed pictures and discussed life in China, including housing, schools, food, transportation, sports, and animals there. Above, Sophie Bryant listens to her father Tim Bryant playing a Chinese instrument , while Ray Bryant shows a game of Chinese checkers while visiting the N-N third graders.
