Third graders at Norwood-Norfolk's summer school had a special guest, a woman visiting the north country from China. Claire Du spoke and sang in Chinese, and she showed students pictures of landmarks in Shanghai. Du and her family are staying with Norwood-Norfolk School's superintendent Elizabeth Kirnie in Norfolk for a month this summer. Kirnie and Du met while both students at Syracuse University, and they started the pen pal exchange between the Shanghi Experimental School and Norwood-Norfolk School. Pictured here displaying their postcards from student pen pals in China are, front row from left: Marianne Joubert, Brandi LaDue, Caleb Haggett, Kaleb Miller and Thomas Gonyou. Back row: Johnna Carpenter, Hannah Mallette, Shannyn St. Andrews, Emily Trombley, Chinese guest Claire Du, and superintendent Elizabeth Kirnie.
