County conservatives honor WWII vet

96-year-old Charles Alexander, a World War II Navy veteran, sits with U.S. Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, center left and right, with Mr. Alexander’s two daughters Chris and Becky, at the St. Lawrence County Conservative Party barbecue and candidate meet and greet event Sunday in Morristown. Mr. Alexander, a Seaman First Class who landed at Normandy on June 6, 1944, was part of the naval forces that brought soldiers from England and landed them in France on D-Day. He was presented with the Party’s Outstanding Serviceman Award by State Assemblyman Robert J. Smullen. The event Sunday featured speeches and appearances by leading state and local Republicans including former Acting Director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement Thomas D.
