Unusually high water in Black Lake
Tuesday, October 12, 2010 - 6:23 am

Brenda Thornton's parents, Ann and Floyd Thornton, have lived in the summer months at the mouth of Fish Creek at Black Lake for several years. She said each spring as they get ready to move in, the water is normally high. But after all of the rain last week, they are experiencing water levels that the "old timers" around the lake have never seen. "The water is not receding as of this weekend," Brenda reported. "It is continuing to rise, making the fall closing-up chores even more difficult because of debris floating in the lake. People have lost docks. Lifts are in the water and the weight of the water is too much to get them out."
