Nursing students from Jefferson Community College in Watertown are getting hands-on experience in the Substance Use Disorder Program at Gouverneur Hospital. Eleven students in their senior year are spending one 11-hour day at the hospital to gain practical experience by shadowing nurses and clinical staff as they provide care for patients within the Substance Use Disorder Program. This is the first time JCC and St. Lawrence Health System’s Gouverneur Hospital have collaborated to host students from the college’s nursing program.
