Democrat Brian McGrath of Lowville spent the weekend campaigning across the 122nd state Assembly District with Republican Assemblywoman Scozzafava of Gouverneur whose seat he hopes to win. Scozzafava is not running for re-election. Scozzafava dropped out of the race for the 23rd Congressional District seat as the GOP candidate one year ago when it became clear she would not win and backed Democrat Bill Owens over Conservative Doug Hoffman. Now, McGrath is running against Republican Ken Blackenbush of Black River for the Assembly seat. The 122nd district covers the southern half of St. Lawrence and Jefferson counties, including Parishville, Pierrepont, Russell, Gouverneur, Madrid, Norfolk, Stockholm. For more photos, view slideshow.
