A former Buffalo man who now resides in Rensselaer Falls was recently honored for his sculpting work to honor the victims of Flight 3407 that crashed in 2010.

The Colgan Air “Continental Connection” flight claimed the lives of more than 50 victims when it crashed into a home in the Town of Clarence in 2009.

The crash prompted increased scrutiny of airline subcontractors such as Colgan by federal authorities.

The sculpture, created by Donald Sendlak, of Rensselaer Falls, and Don Perrino, of Buffalo, can be seen in the photo. The sculpture is part of the memorial that now stands in the town.
