Well into planning for the Friday, Nov. 26, annual night-after-Thanksgiving Canton Holiday of Lights visit by Santa and lighting of the trees, the committee of elves (left to right), Phyllis Howard, Joyce Lilholt, Chair Carol Johnson, Karen Thatcher, Marilyn Mintener, and Brad Mintener (Brenda Snow absent) has been busy. They have been lining up tree decorator groups for the business windows, and details about wagon rides with Dr. Mike, cookies and cocoa refreshments for after visting with Santa, music, candy canes and books, and getting the strings of little white lights for the Main Street trees and lamp post wreaths ready for the village crews to hang. Frosty, Rudolph, Elf and Mr. asnd Mrs. Gingerbread will be there to greet the many children and adults at the 6 p.m. line-ups for Santa. Groups wanting to decorate trees should contact Joyce Lilholt (379-1631 or 386-8501), and those wanting memory tags and ribbons reserved for loved ones should send $2 per tag. To make a donation for the many lights, wreaths, and costume rentals, contact Karen Thatcher, 490 Cousintown Road, Dekalb Junction, NY 13630.
