Tuesday, October 11, 2011 - 6:33 am

TAUNY’s recently opened folk art exhibit has been drawing enthusiastic visitors from all corners of the North Country. The first major exhibit in the newly renovated TAUNY Center in Canton, “Kindred Pursuits: Folk Art in North Country Life” was curated by TAUNY founder Varick Chittenden. The contemporary and historical objects in the exhibit, ranging from paintings, decoys, and needlework to old shop signs and a beaded map of New York state, are organized according to seven categories of inspiration for the creation of folk art. An online catalog of the exhibit can be visited at folkart.tauny.org.
