Black Lives Matter vigil in Canton
Saturday, June 6, 2020 - 5:23 pm

Teresa Veramendi, of the Unitarian Universalist Church, kneels at the start of the Black Lives Matter vigil, along with more than 200 attendees, in Canton’s Village Park at noon Saturday. Church bells rang for nine minutes as attendees kneeled in remembrance of George Floyd, who was held under the knee of a Minneapolis police officer for almost 9 minutes and died as a result. A peaceful rally with several local speakers followed. NCNow photo.
