RENSSELAER FALLS – A wild fruits and wildlife canoe trip will be held Saturday, Sept. 4, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., beginning at the Indian Creek Nature Center.
The early and mid-summer wild fruits and berries provide sweet, nourishing food for mammals and birds.
Some of the late summer/fall fruits, especially the more pungent, sour, even toxic varieties, may be distasteful to some, yet are extremely important in the diet of long-distance migrant birds.
Find out why as we look at some wild fruiting plants and discuss their value to the nature center’s wildlife.
Pre-registration is requested. Leader: Don O’Shea, 393-5137.
