Norwood Holiday Festival

NORWOOD: Norwood Holiday Festival will be held Dec. 7 from 5-8 p.m. in the village park. At 5 p.m. there will be a lighted parade down Main Street followed by a lighting of the memory tree. The Brass Fireman will play and there will be a bonfire in the park. There will be free cocoa, cookies, horse drawn wagon rides, pictures with Santa and the characters and raffle drawings.

Auction for scouts

WADDINGTON: Auction to benefit Boy Scout Troop 83, Waddington Legion, 5 p.m., donations at the door accepted; snacks; proceeds help fund spring trip to Washington D.C.; cash or check accepted; for donation pickups call 315-528-0496, 315-286-5783.

Play auditions

CANTON: Auditions for 6-8 singers and actors 19 to 65 for "I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change,” with director Vania Falen of the Grasse River Players, 3-5 p.m., UU Church on Main Street (please use back entrance); prepare 8-10 bars to sing a cappella; readings provided; performances: Feb 13, 14, 15, 2020 as part of Canton Winterfest.

Holiday Open House

CANTON: TAUNY's Annual Holiday Open House, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., TAUNY Center, Main Street; Sugar & Spice Gingerbread Contest and Display, seasonal treats, live music, kids’ activities, and fun for the whole family; free and open to the public; Northern and Southern old-time music will be performed by Possumbilities, Nichol Falls, and The Daveys; kitchen demonstrations will include dumpling-making with Margaret Chang of Sweet Margaret Cafe and more; variety of children’s activities and sweet treats to enjoy throughout the day.

Festival of the Trees

OGDENSBURG: Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center Auxiliary invites the public to its 16th annual Festival of the Trees slated for Friday, Dec. 6 from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 7 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., 6-9 p.m. at the United Helpers Behavioral Health & Life Skills Building, 100 Ford St.; net proceeds from the event benefit the Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center Auxiliary; daytime admission is a $2 per person donation, 12 and younger admitted free; features a hollyberry sale with handcrafted items, “once loved” Christmas and jewelry treasures, live wreaths for sale and pick-up of pre-orders, Candyland (decadent sweet treats), silent auction of gift baskets and trees, choice auction (put raffle tickets in boxes of items you wish to win for random drawing of winners), viewing of the decorated trees, holiday lottery tree raffle, handmade quilt raffle, Memory Tree ($2 donation per ornament in memory of a loved one), and 50/50 raffle; lunch will be served starting at 11 a.m.; children’s activities featuring Christmas crafts, face painting; visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus will be held Saturday from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.; Mark Darou and Jim Flood will perform live holiday music Saturday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.; Saturday evening events begin at 6 p.m., admission is $15 per person, cash bar and complimentary hors d’ouevres by The Place, holiday music with Dave & Dawn Merz from 6-8:30 p.m. and a viewing of the decorated trees; silent auction, choice auction, 50/50 raffle, Holiday Lottery Tree Raffle and a handmade quilt raffle; all bidding and ticket sales close at 8:30 p.m.; annual Christmas Tree live auction will begin at 8:45 p.m.; rkennedy@chmed.org or 315-393-1559.

PJ collection

CANTON: Drive-through PJ collection to benefit the Canton Church and Community Program Giving Tree sponsored by the Nikentsiaki Girl Scout Service Unit, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., parking lot of the Best Western, 90 E. Main St.; service unit includes scouts from Canton, Rensselaer Falls, Hermon and DeKalb troops; new pajamas in youth sizes 2T to 14/16 and adult sizes from M to XL will be collected; pajamas will be given out to families in the Canton, Rensselaer Falls, Clare, Russell, Hermon and DeKalb area.

‘Santa Paws is Coming’

POTSDAM: Potsdam Agway, 14 Pine St., is sponsoring and hosting a benefit for Spay-Neuter Now called “Santa Paws is Coming . . .,” 10 a.m.-noon and 12:30-2:30 p.m.; pets, kids and families can have their pictures taken with Santa by professional photographer Genine Gehret from Keepsake Photography in DeKalb Junction; $10 donations are appreciated; Christmas Wreath Raffle, with wreaths donated by Agway.
