Polar Bear Plunge
OGDENSBURG: Greater Ogdensburg Chamber of Commerce and the Ogdensburg Volunteer Rescue Squad will host the 13th Annual Polar Bear Plunge, Dobisky Visitor’s Center; registration 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m., plunge will start at 1 p.m.; prizes for the most pledges raised, costumes and teams; registration is $50 if no pledge money is raised; money raised will benefit the two organizations; Badge Battle, Scaredy-Cat Club, hot showers, food, raffles and other activities; donations of pet food or supplies for the St. Lawrence Valley SPCA will be accepted; free admission; info, pledge forms: 315-393-3620, info@ogdensburgny.com, www.ogdensburgny.com.
Robotics Tournament
POTSDAM: FLL Robotics Tournament at Clarkson University, opening ceremonies at 8:30 a.m.; 25 teams of approximately 350 students from across the North Country will demonstrate their knowledge of this year's theme, Into Orbit; middle school teams will compete in the FIRST Lego League (FLL) competition; teams will demonstrate their research, be interviewed about core values, and explain the technical details of their robot design; robot play, which can be observed by spectators, will begin at 10:15 a.m. Closing ceremonies with awards are scheduled for 3:45 p.m. in the Forum; info: Mary Margaret Small, director of educational partnerships, at 315–268-3791 or mmsmall@clarkson.edu.
