Natural History Exhibition

MASSENA: Natural History Exhibition May 18 and 19, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., St. Lawrence Centre; 25 live animals from the Foundation for Animal Research and Education and Little Ray’s Nature Centers; interactive, hands-on educational exhibit features two interactive 30-minute educational programs that rotate 15 minutes apart; presentation times are 10:15, 11:45, 1:15, 2:45 and 4:15 for the Reptiles & Invertebrates program each day; Mammals program is at 11:00, 12:30, 2:00 and 3:30 each day. The sloth only comes out during the mammal presentation; stay 1.5 to 2 hours to see all of the animals in both shows; tickets are $14 at the door, or $10 for additional people over 4 in a group; kids 2 and under are free, advance tickets up to the day before the event are $12 online: https://fare.whitelabeltickets.com/en/pages/massena .

Civil War talk

MADRID: Learn more about Civil War era rolling stock when Marty Snye speaks at the next North Country Civil War Round Table, 2 p.m., Carriage Barn of the St. Lawrence Power & Equipment Museum, 1755 State Route 345; free and open to the public; will discuss how much rolling stock was needed for each battalion of artillery and how many wheels were on the ground during the war, androles of the various tradesmen associated with the production and repair of rolling stock including blacksmiths, carriage makers, and wheelwrights.

Morley history group

Mandy Boyd jamboree

NORFOLK: Jamboree to benefit Mandy Boyd, a Norwood-Norfolk Elementary School teacher recently diagnosed with cancer; money raised will help with medical expenses in her treatment for synovial sarcoma; Walk/Run A-Thon beginning and ending at the Dominic Zappia Arena, 9 Clinton St., registration 8-8:45 a.m., start time at 9 a.m., 1 mile, participants can decide on the number of laps they would like to do, children under 12 must be with an adult; kickball tournament for ages 16 and older 8:30 a.m., co-ed teams of 8-15 players, registration: $200 per team, Mandy Reif: 315-244-1499 to register; corn hole contest will follow, with 2-person teams and $40 fee, register: Juddy Plumb, 315-250-4344; live music by Ben Todd & Family and DJ Scott Boyer and DJ Justin Fisher; raffle baskets, 50/50 drawing and concessions.

Sacred Site Open House

CANTON: New York Landmarks Conservancy’s ninth annual Sacred Sites Open House at Saint Mary’s Church, 68 Court St.; noon-3 p.m.; more than 150 of New York’s religious institutions across the state will open their doors to the public during the open house, giving visitors a glimpse inside impressive sanctuaries to view artistic and historical treasures.
