Woodlot talks

CANTON: Getting the Most from Your Woodlot will be offered for land owners, 7-8:30 p.m., Extension Learning Farm classroom, 2043B State Highway 68; Paul Hetzler from Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) and Steve Sherwood from the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) will lead the discussion; all-around introduction to managing your woodlot, topics include how to get started managing your woodlot and when to get some help, when and why to hire a commercial forester, managing you woodlot for the long term or for short term gain, programs forest owners can take advantage of in the county, prevention of timber theft, tree economics examples and what to do if there is a Sugar Bush in your woodlot; register: stlawrence.cce.cornell.edu, 315-379-9192 ext 237; $5 fee per person.

Gastro health lecture

POTSDAM: St. Lawrence Health System’s Board Certified Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist James Vecchio, MD, will lead a new series of lectures as part of Colon Cancer Awareness Month; “Gastrointestinal Health – What You Must Know,” will be held on March 14, 21, and 28, from noon-1 p.m., in the second floor conference rooms of 50 Leroy St.; lunch provided, all welcome; reservations required: 315-261-5413, dchaselauther@cphospital.org; Dr. Vecchio will highlight the most prevalent gastrointestinal conditions.

Painting class
