County planning board

CANTON: St. Lawrence County Planning Board will convene Thursday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. in the second floor conference room of the Public Safety Complex, 49 ½ Court St.; board is expected to conduct a full review of the town of Fowler’s adoption of a local law to create development districts.

Art opening

POTSDAM: The Art Museum at SUNY Potsdam will unveil paintings by the Japanese modern and contemporary artist Nobu Fukui in a new exhibition at the Roland Gibson Gallery. The show, "New Works and Old Friends," opens at 5 p.m., with an artist reception to be held until 7 p.m. The exhibition will be on display until March 28, with regular hours while campus is in session and viewing by appointment only during campus breaks.

One Hour One Work

OGDENSBURG: The Frederic Remington Art Museum invites the public to attend any of four “One Hour One Work” sessions in the month of February. In February, and in honor of Black History Month, the featured artwork will be Frederic Remington’s 1898 ink wash, “Ninth Cavalry Colored Troops on Washing Duty in the Gulf.” The program will be offered on the following dates and times: Wednesday, Feb. 5 at 1 p.m.; Thursday, Feb. 13 at 1 p.m.; Thursday, Feb. 20 at 12 p.m.; and Friday, Feb. 28 at 1 p.m. The conversations will be facilitated by Museum educators Kari Terwilliger, Luanne Herzog, Dagmar Jaunzems, and Julie Pratt, respectively.

Bereavement group

OGDENSBURG: The Community Bereavement Support group will meet from 5-7 p.m. at the Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center’s Hess Auditorium. CHMC Palliative Care Services has established a follow-up support group for people who are struggling over the loss of a loved one; these groups can decrease feelings of isolation and loneliness and provide a safe space to process feelings of grief and loss. The group is facilitated by palliative care-trained nurses. For more information call 315-713-5251.
