Driving course

OGDENSBURG: United Helpers will host a New York DMV approved National Safety Council Defensive Driving Course, 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m., Staff Development Training Room at the Mosaic Complex, 100 Ford St.; refresher course for drivers of all ages and includes safe driving tips and an overview of today’s vehicle and traffic laws; successful completion of the class makes attendees eligible for a mandatory insurance premium reduction of up to 10% for three years on the base rate for their automobile or motorcycle insurance premiums, provided you are listed as the principal operator; $30, payable in cash, check or money order made out to United Helpers Care, Inc.; bring your driver’s license with you to class; advanced registration required: 315-394-6702 ext. 303 or madarou@unitedhelpers.org.

Beginning guitar class

POTSDAM: Mark Lyon of Potsdam will teach “Get To Know Your Guitar,” 1-3 p.m., SLC Arts, Downtown Snell Hall, 41 Elm St., Room 229; class is open to everyone ages 10 and up; participants should register by Feb. 21; two-hour workshop is designed for beginning guitar players; initial instruction will include how to hold and strum a guitar, play some basic chords, and grasp some basic music theory to increase understanding.
