POTSDAM: “Brightest Stars,” free planetarium show, 4 p.m., Dr. Frank A. Revetta Planetarium, basement of Stowell Hall; lasts 45 minutes, guests of all ages welcome; attendees are encouraged to arrive early, because once the show begins, the door is locked; please note that no food or drink are allowed in the planetarium and, as darkness is required, cell phones cannot be used during the show; free parking is available in Lot 6, near Kellas Hall.
Symphony concert
POTSDAM: Crane School of Music Symphony concert, 7:30-9:30 p.m., Helen M. Hosmer Concert Hall, SUNY Potsdam; free, open to the public.
Open mic night
POTSDAM: Open mic night hosted by Ed “Steady Eddy” Trainer, 7 p.m. signups for performance slot, 1/2 Tons, 141 Market St.; bring your own instruments; call 315-600-7471 to reserve a spot in advance; will be held every Thursday.
First open mic
CANTON: Buccaneer Lounge, 4 W. Main St., below Cascade Inn, 7 – 10 p.m., first event, hosted by Dan Sullivan-Catlin, also known as “The Human Jukebox,” sing a tune, read a poem, tell a story.
